Lift to the Scaffold

Anna and I watched Elevator to the Gallows the other night, and for the record, it has one of my favorite openings.
It opens with an adulterous woman talking on the phone with her lover. There's five or six CU of each one saying they love you, then two dramatic pull backs on each person. It left me breathless.
It's directed by Louis Malle at the age of 24, the cinematography was directed by Henri Decae who also worked on 400 Blows, Le Cercle Rouge and The Godson (Le Samourai), and was beautifully scored by Miles Davis.
