The're Going Places:

Saturday morning I went into work at 5:45 am. The entire day was long, busy, stress-full and wonderful. I am stationed at the Home Depot Pro Desk as a cashier and a young man comes up with items to purchase. I start to ring up his merchandise and noticed that he's wearing a Pedro The Lion t-shirt. I of course had to say something, you don't see good indie bands printed on t-shirts in public that often. So I complemented him on his good taste and ask if he's had a chance to see them live. He's been to most of the shows that Pedro's played here. I have done the same. Whenever they come to town, you will find me at their show. They put on an amazing show and would encourage any and everyone to attend at least one of their shows if possible. This young man went on to ask if i've heard of The Headphones. I nodded my head no and asked more about them. The Headphones are a side project band with members, David Bazan, Tim Walsh from Pedro the Lion and Frank Lenz from Starflyer 59. They use no guitars, a lot of live drums, David Bazan's warm vocals and melodies that find these three men at their finest. The music is dark, dreamy, and heavily influenced by Depeche Mode. It's the well made electronic beat/rock/sophisticated sounds, that makes this music attractive. This side project is going places.

Places to go people to see, buddy!

Actually, that is a really cool story. I don't think I have ever seen a person wearing a t-shirt of a good indie band around here. The guy who sits next to me in class wears a Pink Floyd shirt quite often, but that isn't really the same.

Have you head The Headphones yet??

You can hear the headphones through their website, http://www.purevolume.com/headphones

Most people who wear shirts like that are posers. You know the shirts you can buy at Target for 10 bucks that has the rolling stones icon on the front. Shirts like that. Or when Ellen where's Iggy Pop at her awards celebration...The biggest poser shirt though is Joy Division or The Pixies..So I must be a poser I guess. Oh well, the poser life style isn't so bad.
