One Thought On Being A Parent

In the break room at the Home Depot this morning, a mysterious co-worker brought in half a dozen old issues of the Cosmopolitan magazine. Ray, who works in plumbing, comments, "you know what all these have in common, they all have the word sex on every cover".

Why is it that so many icons, commercials, and advertisements continue to show us this fake sexual fantasy that we ought to have and want? As if that's what a relationship is all about. One of the many conversations I remember from the few days I spent in Moscow for Josh and Paula's wedding, is that parents really need to talk with their kids about sex. It's crucial for this subject to be discussed with the children. Becuase all they're going to see is some artificial world from movies and magazines, and think that is what it'll be like. Then when they are married, they'll be dissapointed. That's not right.
